He escaped his masters by using his close connection with silver to take the keys from his shackles and killed his old masters with the magical sword they had bought him to use in the arena. He then fled and made his way towards the Onmyodo islands, working as a hired sword to afford the costly journey. He’s heard that there are tribal settlements of Nagaji who live free of oppression on the island of Byakku.
